This is a Residential Director position, overseeing an educational summer program.




Start Date: mid-April


Schedule: Part-time hours: April - June; Full-time hours: June-August


Location: two campuses in the central Chicago area


Duration: Summer (seasonal)


Compensation: $14,000 stipend for the entire duration (+ room/board for program duration)


 


Our client, a Chicago-based educational nonprofit organization, seeks a Residential Director to prepare, facilitate, and lead their educational summer camp for Chicago students! This role will involve part-time hours leading up to June, including summer prep, scheduling, and training, and full-time hours for the summer, living on campus for July - August. Responsibilities:




Staff Recruitment & Hiring



  • Recruit, hire, and manage all residential staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver the curriculum effectively.

  • Oversee the successful development and execution of the program's residential curriculum, ensuring fidelity to program objectives.

  • Lead the training of residential staff, providing them with the skills and knowledge required to deliver program content.


Program Leadership:



  • Directly oversee the Lead Residential Coordinators (LRCs), Residential Coordinators (RCs), serving as their point of contact and providing guidance and support.

  • Collaborate with LRCs, and RCs to plan, manage, and facilitate the program's daily activities, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies.

  • Ensure administrative tasks, such as surveys, incident reports, scheduling, event planning, coordination, and tracking are completed effectively.

  • Foster a culture of leadership, teamwork, and high performance among the residential team.

  • Maintain positive relationships with scholars, university personnel, and all program stakeholders.


Residential Program Support:



  • Ensure the safety and socio-emotional needs of the students by overseeing residential supervision and safety protocols.

  • Communicate and uphold program rules, addressing any misconduct per program policies.

  • Collaborate with the residential team and academic team to identify students who may require additional support and contribute to the development and delivery of support plans.


Required Qualifications :


  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience of a 5+ person team (residential settings preferred)

  • Prior experience working with high school-age students is desired with 1-3 years of experience in youth academic and/or recreational programs

  • A demonstrated commitment to working with underrepresented populations and individuals of diverse backgrounds.
