This is a long term temporary, hybrid role (expected to last three months) in Evanston, IL.


Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:45am-5:00pm (w/45 minute unpaid lunch break)


Pay Rate: $25-$29 per hour DOE




Our client, a prestigioius university in Evanston, is looking for an International Student Advisor to add to their team!


 


International Student Advisor Responsibilities:



  • Advise F and J students on immigration regulations, maintaining immigration status, university policy and other related issues.

  • Assist with supportive orientation, co-curricular programs, activities and events for the international community.

  • Assist in maintaining databases.

  • Process immigration requests for J-1, H-1B, E-3, TN, and other employment-based immigration statuses, receive scholar and department appointments, respond to electronic inquiries and other scholar advising tasks.

  • Assist in developing & implementing supportive programs including orientation for international students and scholars.

  • Assist in the evaluation of all department programs & events.

  • Ad-hoc responsibilities as assigned.


Required Qualifications :

International Student Advisor Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 1-2 years of experience in international education in an educational setting.

  • Knowledge of all student visa categories, some scholar visa categories, and federal regulations.

  • Experience with student and/or scholar programming in a multicultural environment.

  • Strong preference for candidates with experience as a Designated School Office for International Students in higher education.
