This is a long-term temporary position in Downtown Chicago, IL.


 


Schedule: Part-Time; 25-30 hours a week (flexible)


Duration: 3-4 months, with the possibility of extension


Compensation: $43 - $50/hour


Location: Hybrid; Downtown Chicago


 


Our client, a national non-profit public health organization, is seeking an experienced senior-level Tax Review Specialist to assist for the next 3-4 months, with the possibility to extend beyond that. The function of this position is primarily in tax compliance: you would assist with the review of tax returns, prepare tax workpapers, tax-calculations/payments, and regular ad-hoc requests.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Review state tax returns prepared by the tax preparer for accuracy and compliance.

  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues in the tax returns.

  • Provide guidance and support to the tax preparer on complex tax matters.

  • Stay updated on changes to state tax laws and regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal tax guidelines.

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and accurate tax processing.

  • Assist with special tax projects and initiatives, as needed.


Required Qualifications :


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Senior-level experience in tax preparation and review.

  • Expertise in state tax laws and regulations.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in relevant tax software and tools.

  • Relevant certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
